Key stage 1 & 2

“BIG skills start small”

The Key Stage 1 & 2 Tracker Cards are a simple but powerful way to support junior netball. Made for players aged 5–7 (KS1) and 7–11 (KS2), they give sessions clear structure and help children develop key skills like passing, movement, footwork, and game understanding.

The cards let players see their progress as they move through each level, which keeps them motivated and proud of what they’re achieving. Awards and certificates at the end of each stage help build confidence and encourage children to keep playing.

Used in both club and school sessions, the Tracker Cards make learning fun, easy to measure, and rewarding while building strong foundations for netball skills.

How to Use the Tracker Cards

1. Check the skill objective

Coaches look at the skill objective and focus for the level.

2. Understand the learning objective

Example (Footwork):

Learning objective:

“I can pivot on one foot after catching the ball.”

Focus:

Learning how to turn while keeping one foot grounded.

3. Plan the session

Design the session to include a skill or activity that isolates the learning objective.

4. Use an age-appropriate activity

For a Key Stage 1, Level 2 skill, a fun and suitable example could be Musical Pivots:

• Similar to musical statues

  • When the music stops, children land with their “sticky foot”

• They then pivot using their second foot

  • Progress onto a skill that uses the netball and the pivot.

5. Allow time for development

The skill may take a few sessions to develop — this is expected.

6. Track achievement

Once the skill is mastered, mark off the achievement ✔️ and celebrate progress!
